A dreamy 4 day escape
MSC Musica Day 1
Following the seamless embarkation, customary arrivals and safety briefings, it was time to unwind. First things first! Champagne on our Balcony as we head off on our journey. Followed by a tour of the ship and a sneaky swim on deck and a little bit of jacuzzi time.
Dressed up, enjoying a refreshing drink, and enjoying an exceptional meal at the Bella Restaurant, that first night set the tone. The service was excellent, thanks to Jennifer, our bubbly server. The food? A solid 10/10. It was the ideal way to get started on a cruise.
The ship also boasts sushi at Kaito, or indulgent Italian dishes at Il Giardino, and an international buffet perfect for quick, casual meals. One highlight? The perfectly grilled seafood platter—a must-try for any seafood lover!
MSC Musica Day 2
Meet at themeeting point and hop on the boats that hold about 80 people at a time and off we go to the Portugues Island. The sun was out for us and it was a glorious hot day! While some of us chose to enjoy the island’s natural beauty others chose to go on excursions. It was the epitome of island sensations, lounging with our toes in the sand , cocktails in hand and the cool breeze from the water cooling us.

MSC Musica Day 3
The ship’s energy was still going strong by Day 3, but I needed some time to myself. At the Top 16 Solarium, I chose a peaceful area, sprawled out in the sun, and let the ocean do its thing. Just me, the sun, and the endless ocean—no rush, no noise. Pure bliss
Tequila sunrise was my go cocktail because Its practically breakfast so I could start drinking early, The day was relaxing , enjoying lunch at buffet today where I grabbed a few slices of pizza.
The La Scala Theatre hosts Broadway-style performances, while live music lounges provide a more intimate atmosphere. For those who enjoy lively nights, themed parties—like the famous White Party and Snow Party—keep the energy going until the early hours
MSC Musica Day 4
We had to leave our cabins early in the morning. I packed and said a sad goodbye to my luxurious blacony cabin, grabbed a quick coffee and full english breakfast.
It was over ,just like that. I was back on solid ground after an early disembarkation, hoping I could go back and start over. The MSC Musica was a complete experience that combined leisure, adventure, and luxury in equal measure. And for an ocean-loving girl from Durban? Complete perfection.
Personal Highlights
For me, the true magic lay in the tranquillity of quiet indulgence. One of my favourite moments was retreating to the Top 16 Solarium. Here, I found my haven above the bustling pool deck. I enjoyed refreshing drinks and fresh fruit while soaking up the sun. watching the open ocean glide past the ship.
The Portugese Island was another highlight of my journey. I had planned to do the snorkelling and Wake Tube excursions but all I wanted to do was swim in the rejuvenating sea, in a quiet place away from the crowd.
Even though the island was bustling with people, it still offers a perfect escape for serenity seekers like me. MSC truly caters to all types of travelers—from extroverts who thrive on the excitement of high-energy games on deck to introverts, like myself, who prefer to retreat from the crowd.
Tips for first-time cruise passengers
- Download the ‘MSC for me’ app on your phone. All the information you need will be on there, from your cruise ship’s map to a list of daily onboard activities.
- Prepare for a hold on your card. If you load your deposit on your credit card, they place a hold of €250 which is only lifted 30 days after the cruise.
- Handle your own luggage. If you need access to your bags quickly, bring them onboard yourself to avoid waiting for cabin delivery.
- Double Check Spa bookings. If you book a spa appointment, double-check the times the day before because these can sometimes get mixed-up.
- Plan for the last day. Due to customs regulations, your minibar is locked the night before disembarkation. If you want a cold drink in your cabin, grab one during lunch.
