A handful of breathless moments for 2021

Moments in time are strung together to form a life. Let’s make sure they are memorable.

“Still I would die tomorrow knowing I spend a handful of breathless moments with you than live a lifetime of ordinary breathing.”

N.R. Hart

Gypsy Souls

“A gypsy soul isn’t lost and looking. A Gypsy soul is one who loves movement and finding the pulse in nature and flight as a metaphor. One who thinks everything is music. One who knows and holds an inward and therefore outwardly contagious kind of freedom.”
(Victoria Erickson)

For gypsy souls, extroverts, creatives, free spirits like me, lockdown is suffocating. But the world as it is today is full of darkness and hatred making it a conflicting conundrum. I love people but I don’t want to be around people right now. I have had to switch off my phone to block out the noise of the fear and judgment that is sweeping across the nation. I have made plans and cancelled them. I have booked for zoom meetings and workshops and then not attended them.

It’s a lonely time. Everyone is emotionally and mentally drained! We are just breathing. We are just surviving. How do we overcome this pandemic age!? Is this how life is going to be now? We have to look for moments of peace and joy in all the chaos.

There is so much to be grateful for! for instance… I am so grateful for TV series like LOST and THE WALKING DEAD to prepare me for this real-life shit show apocalypse and impending doom. No seriously, there are many things in life worth celebrating! What gets me through most days is turning up the music and dancing! (Except when there is load shedding! of course).

Anything in nature, full moons or the ocean restore my soul! An appetency to poetry and art provides a simple, beautiful distraction as well. I like to see myself as a moment collector, moments when faith and love are in action! My only resolve during dark times is to celebrate the small things! All the small moments

The only constant

The only constant is God. Just when we think we are in control, something happens to reveal that it’s just a false sense of security! Many are the plans in a person’s heart but it’s the Lord’s purpose that prevails! God will have his way in the end. When the days are dark we have to look to the light! Hold on to John 15. Psalm 40. Press into God. Deeper than ever before!

You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15 vs 5

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord…” Psalm 40 vs 1-4

Own all your feelings! The negative and positive alike! Feel all the feels. It’s OK to be scared. It’s OK to be angry. It’s OK to cry. It’s OK to not have it all together or know all the answers all the time!
Live for the little things, the moments, the memories, find joy where it can be found. Seek out, LOVE!
