We were invited for a stay at Sibaya Lodge Driving up the pathway to our destination, we were full of excitement. Lap of Luxury!
The accommodation
The staff were friendly and helpful and helped us to our room which overlooked the pool and had a beautiful sea view. The rooms were spacious and had all the required amenities. Air conditioning, DSTV and WIFI.
We lounged by the pool for a little bit to soak up the sun, even though it was windy, it was relaxing and enjoyable. A poolside cocktail would have been nice but sadly due to the Covid restrictions the restaurant at the lodge was not open and we couldn’t order any drinks. We decided to head over to the Casino to get a drink and an early dinner.
The food
Dinner at Butcher Block was enjoyable and we have excellent service from our waitress. Butcher Block at Sibaya is quite interesting with the larger circular aquarium in the centre of the restaurant.
Families come from all over South Africa to visit Sibaya and I asked some of them what they thought of the venue. We chatted with Selwyn, Sashika and their daughters Tiara and Prinola who mentioned their stay was a fun and memorable one and how wonderful it is to be able to go on holiday again after lockdown.
Sibaya surroundings
We walked to the Sibaya Hotel for our breakfast as the Lodges kitchen was still closed due to COVID . The surroundings are elegant and exquisite to walk through.
Some improvements could be made as driving up to the Lodge can be a bit confusing. There is the Hotel on the left and the Lodge on the right. Some clear signs, indicating where to go, could have easily cleared up our confusion. Also, driving out we had to turn back to get our parking validated. A slight oversight that could easily be avoided if the staff reminded you at checkout to validate.
I will rate our stay at Sibaya 8/10. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
