Belinda Davids Wows South Africa Again with The Greatest Love of All

Belinda Davids

South Africa was once again swept off its feet as The Greatest Love of All, starring powerhouse vocalist Belinda Davids, returned to our stages in April and May 2025. Durban and Cape Town played host to this unforgettable Whitney Houston tribute show.

Presented by Showtime Australia and directed by John Van Grinsven, this internationally acclaimed production wasn’t just a concert. It was an experience. With soaring vocals, cinematic lighting, and a full live band bringing Houston’s biggest hits to life, The Greatest Love of All was the kind of show that gave you goosebumps and had you dancing in your seat all at once.

A Voice That Moves You

From I Will Always Love You to I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Belinda Davids reminded us why Whitney Houston’s legacy is so enduring—and why Davids is the perfect voice to honour it. Her performances were powerful, heartfelt, and spine-tinglingly accurate, earning rave reviews and countless standing ovations across all performances.

The tour opened in Durban at the PlayTsogo Globe at Suncoast from 18 April before heading to the Grand Arena at GrandWest in Cape Town on 3 May. Every show was packed with energy, emotion, and some seriously jaw-dropping moments.

From Queberha to the World

We had the chance to interview Belinda while she was in town, and what struck us most (besides her incredible humility) was her journey. She’s been singing since the age of eight, growing up in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), and today, she’s performing on global stage. Her rise hasn’t just been inspiring—it’s proof that South African talent can shine on any stage, anywhere in the world.

Belinda Davids has a four-octave range and a voice that critics around the world can’t stop talking about. She’s won BBC’s Even Better Than the Real Thing, earned the Golden Buzzer on Got Talent All Stars 2023, and stunned audiences on Britain’s Got Talent. But more than her accolades, it’s her passion and authenticity that set her apart.

Belinda also shared her love for Durban, specifically Umhlanga. She first performed here at Sibaya Casino a few years ago, and she fell in love with the area. “Umhlanga Beach is just something else,” she said with a smile. It’s clear that while her voice may belong to the world, her heart still beats proudly for home.

A Tribute With Soul

What sets The Greatest Love of All apart is that it never feels like an imitation. It’s not about looking like Whitney or copying her moves. It’s about honouring her soul, her vulnerability, her raw power—and that’s something Belinda Davids does effortlessly.

This year’s show also brought new creative elements, reimagined arrangements, and a fresh energy that gave even the biggest Whitney fans something new to love. This wasn’t just about nostalgia. It was about connection. Whether you grew up with Whitney’s music or discovered it later in life, the show hit on every emotional note. It reminded us why music matters, why legacy matters, and why celebrating talent—both past and present—is so important.
